Steve Lane Leonard, 52, faces multiple severe felony counts involving a minor under 11 years old
CONWAY, SC — An investigation into online activity has led to the arrest of a 52-year-old Horry County man on multiple severe felony charges involving a minor.
The Horry County Sheriff’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force arrested Steve Lane Leonard following a tip regarding illicit digital activity.
According to investigators, the case began when the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) flagged alleged criminal activity occurring on Google platforms and forwarded the information to local authorities.
Upon further investigation, task force deputies identified Leonard and located a victim under the age of 11. Following the investigation, Leonard was arrested and formally charged with the following offenses:
Two counts of Criminal Sexual Exploitation of a Minor
One count of Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor – 1st Degree
Due to the severity and nature of the charges, the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office will handle the prosecution of this case moving forward.
