Heat indices up to 106°F expected; residents urged to limit outdoor activity
Horry County Emergency Management says a Heat Advisory will be in effect Friday, June 12, 2026, from 11;00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. for inland areas of Horry County, away from the immediate coast.
Forecasters expect heat index values up to 106°, driven by high temperatures and elevated humidity. Officials urge residents to:
- Take frequent breaks from outdoor work
- Stay hydrated throughout the day
- Check on vulnerable neighbors, including older adults
- Never leave children or pets in vehicles
Very warm conditions are expected to continue through the weekend, with heat stress risks remaining elevated during the afternoon and early evening hours.
