Flood Watch Remains in Effect for SE NC and NE SC Through This Evening

A Flood Watch issued by the National Weather Service in Wilmington at 2:41 a.m. remains in effect until 8:00 p.m. today, covering a wide portion of southeast North Carolina and northeast South Carolina as heavy rainfall continues across the region.

Counties under the watch include Bladen, Coastal Brunswick, Coastal New Hanover, Coastal Pender, Columbus, Inland Brunswick, Inland New Hanover, Inland Pender, and Robeson in North Carolina, along with Central Horry, Coastal Georgetown, Coastal Horry, Dillon, Florence, Inland Georgetown, Marion, Northern Horry, and Williamsburg in South Carolina.

The alert, timestamped 2:44 a.m. on the NWS Alerts channel, warns that flash flooding remains possible as excessive runoff may lead to flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low‑lying or flood‑prone locations.

A nearly stationary front continues to support multiple rounds of heavy rainfall. Over the past 24 hours, 1 to 2 inches have fallen across much of the area, with locally higher totals of 3 to 4 inches along the coast. Another 1 to 2 inches is expected today, with locally higher amounts of 2″ to 4″ are possible where heavier bands repeatedly track over the same locations.
