WHITEVILLE — A Washington Street resident reported the theft of a handgun Friday morning, according to a Columbus County Sheriff’s Office incident report.
Deputy Chase Watts responded at 9:04 a.m. to 817 Washington Street, where Edward Earl Davis II, 45, told deputies that his SCCY CPX‑1 9mm handgun, valued at $500, had been taken from the property. The report lists the offense as Larceny of a Firearm, a felony under North Carolina law.
No suspect information was available in the report. The case remains under investigation.
