Eight lots test positive for multiple harmful pathogens; FDA urges pet owners to discard affected products
The FDA is urging pet owners not to feed eight lots of Raaw Energy dog food after unopened samples tested positive for Listeria, Salmonella, Campylobacter, and E. coli O157.
The contaminated products were sold frozen in 2‑lb and 5‑lb plastic tubes and distributed nationwide.
Affected Products and Date Codes
The following Raaw Energy products tested positive for pathogenic bacteria:
– Chicken Medley
– Salmon
– Beef Chicken Medley
– Beef Turkey Medley
– Beef Chicken Tripe Medley
Affected date codes:
– All lots dated July 2025 through December 2025
State agriculture officials tested eight samples following a consumer complaint about a sick dog — all eight tested positive. The FDA recommended a recall, but the company has not taken adequate action.
Distributed to All States
What to Do
– Do not feed affected lots; throw them away securely.
– Do not donate the food.
– Disinfect bowls, surfaces, and any areas the food or pet touched.
– Contact a veterinarian if your pet shows symptoms such as diarrhea, vomiting, fever, or lethargy.
– People exposed to the food or an ill pet should watch for gastrointestinal symptoms and seek medical care if they develop.
