FDA RECALL:  Utz Quality Foods has issued a Class I recall for select Zapp’s and Dirty brand potato chips after a seasoning ingredient used in multiple flavors was flagged for a potential salmonella contamination.

The affected seasoning contains dry milk powder from a supplier tied to a broader contamination concern.

Utz Quality Foods, LLC issued a voluntary recall for Zapp’s Brand Big Cheezy Potato Chips for potential salmonella contamination

Utz initiated the recall out of caution, pulling hundreds of thousands of bags distributed nationwide.

  • Zapp’s Bayou Blackened Ranch – 1.5‑oz, 2.5‑oz, 8‑oz
  • Zapp’s Salt & Vinegar – 1.5‑oz
  • Zapp’s Big Cheezy – 1.5‑oz, 8‑oz
  • Dirty Salt & Vinegar – 1.5‑oz, 2‑oz
  • Dirty Maui Onion – 2‑oz
  • Dirty Sour Cream & Onion – 2‑oz

Best‑by dates: July 27, 2026 through August 31, 2026
Reason: Possible salmonella contamination linked to dry milk powder
Classification: FDA Class I (highest risk category)
