COLUMBUS COUNTY — A Facebook post circulating this week claiming that “drastic changes” were being made to the county’s voting schedule is false, according to the Columbus County Board of Elections.
Election officials said the post — shared widely in several local community groups — incorrectly claimed that early voting hours were being cut and that multiple precincts would be consolidated before the upcoming election. The Board of Elections confirmed that no such changes have been approved, proposed, or discussed.
“All official voting information comes directly from the Board of Elections or the State Board of Elections,” officials said, urging residents not to rely on social‑media posts for election updates.
The Board emphasized that the county’s early voting schedule, Election Day precincts, and hours remain unchanged. Any future adjustments would require public notice and formal approval.
Residents can verify voting information through the Columbus County Board of Elections, the North Carolina State Board of Elections, or official county government channels.
Voters are encouraged to confirm details with trusted, official sources.
