Eviction and Gun Seizure Prompt Law Enforcement Response in Delco

Delco, NC – Columbus County Sheriff’s deputies were called to a residence on the Andrew Jackson Highway East in Delco on Thursday evening to handle a volatile civil disruption. Deputy Chase Watts arrived at the scene at approximately 4:30 PM to assist in executing a formal eviction and Ex-Parte order.

The victim listed in the state report, Amalia Melchor Mendoza, sought assistance during the lawful removal of a white male tenant from the premises. During the forced eviction process, responding officers discovered and seized a gray Springfield M1911 pistol valued at approximately $100. The firearm was taken into temporary law enforcement custody for safekeeping while the eviction details were finalized.

All individuals listed are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
