Eleven New Truck Drivers Hit the Road After Completing SCC’s 9‑Week Training Program

Whiteville, NC – Southeastern Community College is celebrating another milestone as eleven new graduates roll out of the Truck Driver Training program, CDL licenses in hand and careers on the horizon. After just nine weeks of intensive, hands‑on instruction, these students are officially prepared to enter one of the region’s most in‑demand and high‑paying fields.

The program, known for its fast‑track approach and strong job placement outcomes, equips students with the skills and confidence needed to begin driving professionally in just over two months. Graduates train on industry‑standard equipment, learn essential safety practices, and complete all requirements to earn a Class A Commercial Driver’s License.

Next Orientation Set for April 30

For those ready to follow in the footsteps of the newest graduates, SCC will host its next mandatory in‑person orientation on April 30 at 10 a.m. Students who attend can begin classes as early as May 28, completing the program by early August.

  • DOT Physical: $50–$125
  • DOT Drug Screen: $50–$100
  • Class A CDL Permit: $77
  • Class A CDL License: $127.50
  • Motor Vehicle Report (optional): $12.75
• Financial assistance may be available through NC Works or SCAP for qualifying students.

  • Thu: 8:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.
