Dulah Lee Tompkins Hammonds, 85, of Chadbourn, died on Monday, May 11, 2026 in Columbus Regional Healthcare System in Whiteville, NC.
Dulah was born on October 26, 1940, daughter of the late Arthur Lee Tompkins and Annie Rebecca Spivey Tompkins. She was also the widow of Derrell Purvis Hammonds, Sr. and in addition, was pre-deceased by two siblings, Dorothy Lewis and Glenwood Tompkins.
Funeral service will be conducted on Friday, May 15, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at Worthington Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Crumpler officiating. Burial will follow in the Chadbourn Memorial Cemetery.
The family will speak to friends prior to the service from 2:00-2:45 p.m. in the chapel.
Surviving family includes her daughter, Candace Hammonds Conway (Steven) of Wilmington; son, Derrell Purvis Hammonds, Jr. (Kimberly) of Chadbourn; grandchildren, Gage Landon Hammonds and Dawson Reid Hammonds; siblings, Elwood Tompkins, Arthur Tompkins, Jr. (Annette), Katie Fowler (Othel), Eugene Tompkins (Linda), Judy James (Bobby); host of nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Chadbourn Baptist Church.
