DUI Stop on U.S. 701 Leads to Arrest of Whiteville Man

WHITEVILLE — A traffic stop on U.S. 701 South Saturday afternoon resulted in multiple charges, including Driving Under the Influence, according to Deputy Taylor Hammonds.

The suspect, listed only as a 36‑year‑old male in the incident report, was later identified through detention records as Lahiber Hernandez Perez, 36, of Whiteville.

Perez was booked at 7:36 p.m. on charges of:

  • Driving While Impaired
  • Speeding
  • No Operator’s License
  • Seat Belt Violation
  • Failing to Carry Registration

He was released the same day on a $2,000 secured bond.

All individuals listed are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
