Danny Joe Barber, age 73, passed away June 26, 2026 at Grand Strand Medical Center.
Danny was born December 8, 1952 in Davenport, Iowa a son of the late Lawrence and Martha Wood Barber. In addition to his parents, Danny is predeceased by a sister: Linda Barber. Danny worked many jobs throughout his life, he was a foundry worker at Sivyer Steel Castings in Bettendorf, Iowa, worked for Hengl Oil and Roads, for a maintenance and cleaning business and finally at the Hotspot Casino in Surfside Beach, SC.
Danny had a love for racing and drove a dragster which then led him to start racing go-karts with his sons, Jason and Daniel and grandsons, Jason, Jr. and Lucas and started Barber Racing 111, and his legend will live on through his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Danny is survived by his children: Jason Barber, Daniel Barber, and Sara Childress; grandchildren: Jason Barber, Jr., Lucas Barber, Katie Cyganiewicz, and Kayla Cyganiewicz; great-grandchildren: Jason Barber, III and Lillian Cauble; siblings: Larry Barber and Donna Barber.
Services will be private.
Myrtle Beach Funeral Home is assisting the Barber family with arrangements.
