Community to ‘Light the Lake’ for Child Abuse Prevention

12th annual candlelight walk at Lake Waccamaw invites public to shine a light on local safety and awareness efforts

LAKE WACCAMAW, NC – The community is invited to gather at Lake Waccamaw on Tuesday, April 14, for a powerful evening of awareness. For the 12th consecutive year, the Light the Lake Walk will serve as a literal and symbolic effort to “shine a light” on child abuse prevention.

​The event, held annually during Child Abuse Prevention Month, begins at 5:30 p.m. at the BGHNC Pavilion. Participants will embark on a candlelight walk through local neighborhoods before returning to the Pavilion for refreshments.

​Organizers emphasize that the walk represents the daily commitment required to uproot child abuse from the community. The event is free and open to everyone, serving as a reminder that positive childhoods are a collective community responsibility.
