WHITEVILLE, NC — Columbus County officials are asking residents and local stakeholders to share firsthand experiences with flooding, drainage issues, and roadway conditions as part of the county’s ongoing Watershed Drainage Management Plan.
The county is developing the plan to identify and prioritize the most urgent drainage and watershed‑management needs across Columbus County.
Engineering consultants will use community reports to map problem areas, document recurring flood zones, and evaluate long‑term solutions for streams, ditches, and storm‑impacted roadways.
Public participation is essential for building an accurate picture of where flooding occurs, how drainage systems keep up, and which of those areas require immediate attention. Residents, property owners, farmers, and business operators are encouraged to submit detailed feedback, including photos and location‑specific descriptions.
