CLARKTON NC — A Clarkton man already jailed without bond on kidnapping and sexual assault charges is now facing major drug‑trafficking counts after investigators searched his home last week.
Wade Anthony Garcia, 41, of 4960 Burney Ford Road, was first arrested July 24 after a woman called 911 reporting she had been restrained and sexually assaulted inside Garcia’s residence. Deputies located the victim on July 21, collected clothing and other forensic evidence, and secured warrants charging Garcia with second‑degree kidnapping, false imprisonment, sexual battery, and second‑degree sex offense. He was booked into the Bladen County Detention Center and held without bond.
While Garcia remained jailed on those charges, investigators executed a search warrant at his home. During the search, deputies seized more than 22 pounds of marijuana along with large amounts of cash. The discovery led to additional felony charges, including:
— Two counts of trafficking in marijuana
— Maintaining a dwelling for drug activities
The Bladen County Sheriff’s Office said the trafficking charges stem directly from the narcotics found inside the residence. Garcia remains held without bond.
Sheriff’s officials also noted that Garcia has been the subject of prior multi‑agency investigations, including a 2022 case involving firearm possession by a felon, identity theft and fraud‑related offenses. Authorities have not indicated whether those earlier matters are connected to the current allegations.
The investigation remains active, and deputies say additional charges are possible as evidence continues to be processed.
