Clarkton Man Booked on Charges

Cameron Brice McKoy, 26, of 111 Jasmine Lane in Clarkton, was booked into the Columbus County Detention Center early Sunday morning on multiple felony and misdemeanor charges, according to the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office.

McKoy was taken into custody at 1:01 a.m. on June 23 and charged with offenses involving the discharge of a firearm, property damage, and child endangerment. He was held under booking ID 97418.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, McKoy faces the following charges:

  • Discharging a Weapon into Occupied Property (G.S. 14‑34.1) — a Class E felony in North Carolina. The statute applies when a firearm is discharged into a home, vehicle, or other occupied structure, regardless of whether anyone is injured.
  • Injury to Real Property (G.S. 14‑127) — a Class 1 misdemeanor involving intentional damage to land, buildings, or fixtures.
  • Two counts of Injury to Personal Property (G.S. 14‑160) — typically Class 2 misdemeanors unless the damage exceeds $200, which elevates the offense.
  • Misdemeanor Child Abuse (G.S. 14‑318.2) — a Class A1 misdemeanor covering situations where a child is placed at risk of physical injury or harm.

McKoy is listed as a 26‑year‑old Black male, standing 5’9″ and weighing 250 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. The arresting agency was the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office.
