CHADBOURN — The Chadbourn Town Council will hold a special meeting on Monday, April 27 at 12:30 p.m., where members are expected to organize the next steps in hiring a new town administrator and review upcoming budget planning, according to a notice released by the town.

Mayor Phillip C. Britt will call the meeting to order, followed by an invocation and the Pledge of Allegiance.

Administrator Interviews to Be Organized

The council’s first order of business in open session will be to discuss how the board will conduct interviews with applicants for the Town Administrator position. The town has been operating under Interim Town Manager John Bauer.

Two Closed Sessions Planned

The board is expected to enter two separate closed sessions during the afternoon:

  • Closed Session #1 (around 1 p.m.) Council members will discuss the qualifications, performance, and fitness of applicants for the administrator role, as allowed under NCGS 143‑318.11(a)(6). Any final hiring decision must be made in open session.
  • Closed Session #2 (after 3 p.m.) The council will discuss economic development matters, including potential business locations, expansions, or incentive negotiations, under NCGS 143‑318.11(a)(4). Any approval of incentives or contracts must occur publicly.

Budget Work Session to Follow

Once the board returns to open session — estimated around 4 p.m. — the town manager will brief council members on the status of the upcoming FY 2026–27 budget. A resolution approving the town’s budget calendar is also scheduled for consideration.

The meeting will conclude with a motion to adjourn.

Town Clerk RaMonda L. Crosby issued the official notice.
