Horry County’s new National Demonstration Site Playground is on track to open this summer.

Carolina Forest, SC — Big changes are taking shape at the Carolina Forest Recreation Center, located at 2254 Carolina Forest Blvd. Myrtle Beach. Construction continues on a new National Demonstration Site Playground designed for fully inclusive play.

The project is being built directly behind the recreation center building, adjacent to the athletic fields and parking area.

Horry County Parks and Recreation are excited to announce that the work is moving steadily, with major components of the playground now visible on site. The project focuses on accessibility, shared play experiences, and features that support children of all abilities.

Key elements include shaded areas to increase comfort and extend play time during hot weather, along with equipment and layout choices that promote mobility, sensory engagement, and social interaction.

The new playground is expected to open for the 2026 summer season, adding another family‑friendly amenity to the fast‑growing Carolina Forest community.
