Carol Ann Liberati

Carol Ann Liberati, born March 8, 1938, in Yonkers, New York, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2026, at the age of 87 in Winnabow, North Carolina, after a courageous battle with Dementia.

Carol graduated from Commerce High School in Yonkers, NY, and began her career as an executive secretary in her hometown. It was during this time that she met Vincent Liberati, her future husband, in 1975. Although both were married to others at the time, fate would bring them together again many years later. Carol later transitioned to a role as a customer service representative for a moving company, where her kindness and dedication shone brightly.

In 2000, Carol and Vincent were reunited and married in 2006, beginning a new chapter filled with love and companionship. They relocated from New York to Wilmington, NC, in 2010, where they enjoyed their retirement years together.

Carol had a passion for thrifting, always thrilled to discover a good bargain. Her love for romance was evident in her enjoyment of Hallmark Channel movies. She also found joy in visiting casinos, where playing the slot machines was her favorite pastime. Above all, Carol was a devoted wife and took immense pride in caring for her husband and family.

Preceded in death by her parents, John and Sabina Mary (Lynch) Canning, her sisters Sabina, Mary June, and Joan, her brother John “Jack,” and her stepson Keith, Carol leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth. She is survived by her loving husband, Vincent Liberati; her sons, Michael Venezia and his wife Karen, and Joseph Venezia and his wife Natalie; her stepdaughters, Jennifer Cruz and her husband Raul, and Lynn Santoiemma and her husband James. Carol was a cherished grandmother to 20 grandchildren and great-grandmother to four great-grandchildren. She is also remembered fondly by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

A Mass to celebrate Carol’s life will be held on Friday, January 16, 2026, at 9:00 am at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, located at 6650 Carolina Beach Road, Wilmington, NC 28412.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Alzheimer’s Association in honor of Carol, to support those affected by this challenging disease.

Carol Ann Liberati will be remembered for her kindness, her love of family, and the joy she brought to all who knew her.
