Brunswick County, NC — Brunswick Little Theatre is remembering the life and legacy of Board of Directors member Rosina Whitfield, who passed away at her home on March 20, 2026.
Whitfield served on the BLT Board from 2023–2026 and was known throughout the arts community as a dynamic, effervescent, and adventurous spirit whose passion for theatre touched generations.
Whitfield often shared that her love for the stage began in the first grade, when she played “Aunt Bear” in a school production. That early spark grew into a lifelong devotion to the performing arts. Her professional career spanned roles as Artistic Director, Drama Director, Youth Theatre Director, and Developer of Educational Programs. She also taught Acting at Montgomery College in Rockville, Maryland for a decade and operated her own professional theatre company.
Her final BLT production, One Slight Hitch, ran February 19 through March 8. A February 26 online review praised the “door-slamming stage farce” as “an enjoyable ride.” Even while battling flu-like symptoms in recent days, Whitfield continued to pour herself into the work she loved, directing and attending a performance at South Brunswick High School, where she served as supervisor of the drama club.
Rosina is survived by her spouse Dan Whitfield, her son Skyler Whitfield, and her grandson Wyatt Whitfield. Donations in her memory may be made to the Oak Island Beach Preservation Society at https://beachoki.org/
“As we bid farewell to Rosina, let us carry forward the love and laughter she brought into our world.”
