ReadyBrunswick system helps deliver lifesaving alerts during Severe Weather Preparedness Week
BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC — As North Carolina marks Severe Weather Preparedness Week, Brunswick County officials are reminding residents, property owners, and visitors to make sure they have reliable ways to receive severe weather watches and warnings before storms strike.
Spring and early summer bring an increased risk of tornadoes, flash flooding, coastal storms, and rapidly changing weather conditions. Emergency managers emphasize that having multiple alert methods is one of the most effective ways to stay safe when minutes or even seconds matter.
A key tool for the community is ReadyBrunswick, the county’s official emergency notification system. The free service delivers timely alerts through text messages, phone calls, emails, mobile app notifications, and more, ensuring people can receive critical information wherever they are.
County officials encourage everyone who lives in, owns property in, or visits Brunswick County to sign up or review their existing account settings.
The county also recommends pairing ReadyBrunswick with additional alert sources, including Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA), NOAA Weather Radio, local TV and radio, weather apps, mobile.weather.gov, and updates from family and friends.
Using multiple channels increases the likelihood of receiving a warning even if one method fails or a device is silenced.
