Brunswick County Opens Voting Machine Testing to the Public

BOLIVIA, NC — The Brunswick County Board of Elections has begun its logic and accuracy testing ahead of the upcoming primary election. The testing is conducted before every election to ensure that ballots, scanners, and all voting system components are properly configured and functioning as intended.

The process is designed to confirm that voting equipment is ready for use and that all programming is accurate. As part of the county’s commitment to transparency, the public is invited to observe the testing either in person or through a live stream.

During the procedure, staff mark ballots for a mock election and run them through tabulators. The results are compared to the expected totals for each contest to verify accuracy. A bipartisan team prepares the machines, oversees the testing, and ensures that all steps follow required procedures.

Once testing is complete, the equipment is reset to remove all test data and sealed with a logged security tag.

The testing is open to the public, though space is limited. A live stream is available on Zoom for those who prefer to watch remotely.
