SUNSET HARBOR, NC — The Brunswick County Fishing Club will celebrate Independence Day with its annual Freedom Fest Golf Cart Parade on Thursday, July 4, bringing neighbors together for a morning of patriotic fun and coastal pride.
Lineup begins at 8:00 a.m. at The Big Oak, where the evening fireworks display will also be held. The parade starts at 9:15 a.m., rolling out with a colorful procession of decorated carts. No registration is required – participants can simply show up and join the celebration.
Awards will be presented in five categories:
- Most Creative – Palettes and imagination
- Funniest – Laugh‑out‑loud ideas
- Nautical – Maritime and ocean themes
- Most Patriotic – Red, white & blue, stars and stripes
- Best Representing Sunset Harbor – Local pride
After the parade, guests can enjoy food and drinks at the Brunswick County Fishing Club, with hot dog sales beginning after the awards ceremony.
Organizers say, “Let’s make this 250th celebration the best yet!” inviting everyone to decorate their carts, bring family and friends, and celebrate freedom in true coastal style.
