Bladen County Checkpoint Results in More Than Two Dozen Citations, One Fugitive Arrest

BLADEN COUNTY — A driver’s license checkpoint conducted Friday night by the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office resulted in more than two dozen citations, multiple narcotics violations, and the arrest of a fugitive, according to a news release from Sheriff James A. McVicker.

Deputies operated the checkpoint on March 20 at the intersection of Tar Heel Road and Chicken Foot Road, an area the Sheriff’s Office says has been the focus of recent enforcement efforts. Over the course of the operation, deputies issued a wide range of charges, including driving offenses, drug violations, and weapons seizures.

Citations and Charges Issued

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the checkpoint resulted in:

  • Driving While License Revoked: 4
  • No Operator’s License: 7
  • Registration Violations: 3
  • Insurance Violations: 2
  • Narcotics Violations: 5
  • Driving While Impaired: 1
  • Guns Seized: 2
  • Fugitive Arrested: 1
  • Other Violations: 8

In total, deputies recorded more than two dozen citations during the checkpoint.

Sheriff: Public Safety Remains Priority

The Sheriff’s Office said the checkpoint is part of its ongoing effort to “promote public safety and raise awareness in an effort to curb illegal activity throughout Bladen County.”

The agency routinely conducts checkpoints and saturation patrols in areas where traffic violations, impaired driving, and drug activity have been reported.
