BC News Community Heroes: Nakina Fire & Rescue Shows Love in Action on Valentine’s Day

While many spent Valentine’s Day celebrating with loved ones, the men and women of Nakina Fire & Rescue spent their day showing love in the most selfless way possible by answering the call for their community.

From 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., crews stayed steadily busy, responding to a full range of emergencies across the district:

– 4 EMS Calls (Unresponsive, Fall, Sick, Overdose)
– 2 Grass Fires (1 in-district, 1 mutual aid)
– 1 Lift Assist

Even on a holiday, the response was swift, coordinated, and rooted in the partnerships that keep Columbus County safe.

Nakina Fire & Rescue extends heartfelt appreciation to the agencies who stepped in to support:

– Williams Township Fire Department, for sending a truck and personnel to assist with a grass fire alongside the NC Forestry Service
– Grissettown Longwood Fire Department, for providing additional manpower on an EMS call

This is what love for community truly looks like ~ neighbors helping neighbors, departments working side by side, and first responders showing up with dedication and heart.
