A Whiteville man appearing in court for sentencing is now facing additional charges after deputies say they found crystal meth in his pocket during processing.
According to the incident report, Johnny Dakatto Jacobs, 39, of 175 Spring Meadow Road, was at the Columbus County Courthouse on Jan. 7 for sentencing on a charge of driving without a license. While deputies were completing routine procedures following the hearing, they allegedly discovered crystal meth, three straws, and three plastic bags in Jacobs’ pants pocket.
Jacobs was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and an outstanding failure to appear warrant. His bond was set at $15,000.
Deputies noted that the drugs and paraphernalia were found during standard processing after the court hearing.
