The Free Water Feature Adds Modern Recreation Options to Recently Renovated Community Space
LELAND, NC — The Town of Leland is officially kicking off the summer season with the grand opening of the new Founders Park splash pad on May 1. This highly anticipated addition to the recently renovated park provides a free, family-friendly destination for residents to escape the heat, operating daily from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. through the end of September.
As a central feature of the park’s recent upgrades, the splash pad is designed to bolster outdoor recreation and serve as a community hub for the growing coastal region.
The facility operates on a first-come, first-served basis and utilizes an on-demand water system to manage resources effectively. Visitors can activate the water features by pressing a button located on a blue pole near the entrance, which triggers a four-minute cycle of sprayers and fountains. This interactive setup allows the park to offer continuous fun while maintaining high standards for the updated municipal infrastructure.
Safety remains a primary focus for the town as the facility prepares for high seasonal traffic. While the splash pad is open to the public at no cost, town officials remind visitors that there is no lifeguard on duty and adult supervision is mandatory for all children. Additionally, while Founders Park offers public restrooms for general use, there are no designated changing areas, and visitors are encouraged to review the full list of park ordinances on the town’s website prior to their arrival.
