DELCO — A routine traffic stop in Delco last week resulted in the arrest of a Riegelwood woman wanted on multiple outstanding criminal processes in Bladen County.

According to Sheriff Bill Rogers, detectives with the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office Vice/Narcotics Division were conducting proactive enforcement on March 31 in response to citizen complaints about suspected drug activity and increased traffic issues in the Delco community. During the operation, detectives stopped a vehicle after observing the driver operating it with a suspended license.

The driver, identified as Benetta Renee White, 52, was found to have five outstanding criminal processes issued out of Bladen County. Detectives took White into custody without incident and served her with the outstanding paperwork.

White was placed under a secured bond of $89,000 and is currently awaiting transfer to the Bladen County Detention Facility.

Sheriff Rogers praised the deputies’ efforts, saying the arrest demonstrates the value of staying visible in areas where residents have raised concerns.

“Our deputies remain committed to being proactive in areas where citizens have voiced concerns,” Rogers said. “By staying visible and engaged in these communities, we are able to identify and apprehend individuals who pose a risk to public safety. This is just one example of how focused enforcement can make a difference.”

The sheriff’s office said it will continue prioritizing targeted patrols and enforcement efforts aimed at improving safety and quality of life across Columbus County.

All individuals are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
