Leland, NC — Novant Health has received full approval from the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services to establish a new 20‑bed hospital in Leland, clearing the way for construction of the region’s first new hospital in more than a decade.
The approved facility, to be known as Novant Health Leland Medical Center, will be located along U.S. 74/76 near the Compass Pointe Community. The state’s Certificate of Need decision authorizes Novant Health to relocate 20 acute‑care beds from Brunswick Medical Center in Bolivia to the new site.
According to the state filing, the Leland hospital will include a 24/7 emergency department, imaging services, 10 observation beds, and five procedure rooms, along with on‑site inpatient providers and specialty consultants.
Local approvals are also complete. The Town of Leland approved the necessary rezoning, allowing the project to proceed through the development and construction phases.
Novant Health has not yet announced a groundbreaking date, but the project is now fully authorized at both the state and local levels.
