CLARENDON — A targeted saturation patrol by the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office Vice Narcotics Unit led to the arrest of a Clarendon man following a rise in community complaints about suspected drug activity in the area.
According to Sheriff W.A. Rogers, deputies conducted the operation on March 21 after receiving multiple reports from residents concerned about illegal drug activity and related criminal behavior. During the patrol, deputies stopped a vehicle and identified the driver as Kenneth Allen Harley.
Investigators say that during the stop, deputies located illegal narcotics and a concealed firearm. Harley was taken into custody and charged with:
- Felony Possession of Cocaine
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
- Carrying a Concealed Gun
- Resisting a Public Officer
Harley was booked into the Columbus County Detention Center on March 22 and received a $5,000 secured bond.
Sheriff Rogers said the operation reflects the department’s commitment to responding directly to citizen concerns.
“We take every citizen complaint seriously, especially when it involves drug activity in our communities,” Rogers said. “Our Vice Narcotics Unit remains committed to being proactive in addressing illegal drug activity and ensuring the safety of our neighborhoods.”
The Sheriff’s Office encourages residents to continue reporting suspicious activity, noting that community cooperation is essential in identifying problem areas and supporting law enforcement efforts.
