Grand Strand Redefines Patriotic Tradition with Milestone Tribute and Community Celebration

MYRTLE BEACH, SC — The rhythmic beat of marching bands and a sea of red, white, and blue will soon return to the streets of The Market Common. The City of Myrtle Beach has officially announced the return of its premier military tribute, now reimagined as the “America 250: Red, White and Remember” parade. Scheduled for Saturday, May 23, the event serves as the centerpiece of the city’s month-long Military Appreciation Days, honoring two and a half centuries of American spirit, service, and sacrifice.

The procession, a long-standing Grand Strand staple formerly known as the Military Appreciation Days parade, begins at 10:00 a.m. along Farrow Parkway. This year, the route transforms into a moving timeline of the American journey, featuring high school marching bands and military units representing every branch of service.

Spectators can expect a unique blend of formal tribute and coastal flair, with custom commercial floats and vintage military vehicles joined by a beloved local tradition: a massive convoy of patriotically decorated golf carts.

The celebration continues beyond the finish line at Warbird Park as the crowd migrates toward Grand Park for the city’s traditional Family Picnic. This community gathering offers a chance to break bread with live patriotic music and a free lunch while supplies last. The afternoon serves as a vibrant prelude to the more somber Memorial Day Remembrance Ceremony held the following Monday, ensuring that as the city celebrates the nation’s 250th birthday, the individual stories of those who secured that freedom remain at the forefront.

With the registration deadline for participants set for Friday, May 8, the city is preparing for record crowds. Residents and visitors are encouraged to arrive early, secure a spot along the parkway, and wear their finest patriotic attire to help turn the Grand Strand into a living tribute for this historic milestone.
