Nichols Man Charged After Stabbing Investigation Leads to Domestic‑Violence Arrest

WHITEVILLE — A Nichols, S.C., man who arrived at Columbus Regional Healthcare with multiple stab wounds was later jailed without bond on a series of domestic‑related charges, according to law enforcement and detention center records.

Whiteville Police were called to the hospital after Sherman Deandre Evans, 45, of 5979 Pleasant View Church Rd., Nichols, came in with several stab injuries. Officers said the wounds were non‑life‑threatening.

During the investigation, police determined that Evans was the alleged aggressor in an incident involving a woman known to him. Following interviews and evidence review, warrants were issued, and Evans was taken into custody after receiving medical treatment.

Evans was charged with:

  • Breaking and entering to terrorize or injure
  • Larceny
  • Assault on a female
  • Domestic violence

He was booked into the Columbus County Detention Center and held under no bond, according to jail records.

Authorities have not released additional details about the circumstances leading to the stabbing, and the case remains under investigation.
