West Columbus School has swept by law enforcement, bomb-sniffing dogs, and has been declared safe.

Today, West Columbus School will open on a two-hour delay, with classes beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Law enforcement is currently investigating a bomb threat made against West Columbus School, located at 7294 Andrew Jackson Highway SW, Cerro Gordo, NC 28430. Deputies and emergency personnel are on site conducting a full, methodical search of the building to ensure there are no safety concerns for students or staff.

As a precaution, the West Columbus campus is closed to all traffic, and buses will not run for West Columbus School until law enforcement provides an official all‑clear.

The start of school may be delayed, and a revised reopening timeframe will be shared as soon as it is confirmed.

This situation only affects West Columbus School and its bus routes. All other schools in the district are operating on a normal schedule.
