OCEAN ISLE BEACH, N.C. — Established in 1976, Whispering Pines Nudist Resort, a 35‑acre family‑friendly campground, is seeking county approval to expand its campground facilities in response to growing interest from vacationers and day visitors.

The Brunswick County Zoning Board of Adjustment is scheduled to review a special‑use permit request on Thursday, January 8, that would allow the resort to add 12 new campsites. The expansion would increase the total number of sites from 57 to 69.

Whispering Pines offers a range of amenities, including an acre‑sized lake, nature trails, a swimming pool, hot tub, and a year‑round heated and air‑conditioned clubhouse. Lodging options include park‑model RV rentals that sleep up to six people, featuring full kitchens, living and dining areas, two bedrooms, showers, and sun decks. The resort also provides RV sites with full hookups and 30‑ and 50‑amp service, along with tent camping areas with and without electricity.

Located within a short drive of Myrtle Beach, the resort promotes itself as a quiet retreat that remains close to shopping, entertainment, and dining options.

The Board of Adjustment’s January 8 agenda also include a special‑use permit request from Hope Harbor Home for property on Old Ocean Highway in Bolivia, as well as a proposal from the Waccamaw Volunteer Fire Department for a government and community building at 5230 Myrtlehead Road NW in Ash.
