Detours in place between Dale Ave. and E. Leonard St.; motorists urged to use caution and allow extra travel time

Southport, NC — Stuart Ave. between Dale Ave. and E. Leonard St. will be closed on February 24, 2026, to allow crews to complete storm drain replacement work. The temporary closure is part of ongoing efforts to improve stormwater infrastructure and reduce future flooding impacts in the area.
Detours will be in place throughout the project
Motorists traveling from Howe St. should follow posted detour signs to E. Leonard St. Drivers approaching from E. Moore St. are advised to use E. Leonard St. to access Howe St. Local officials encourage residents and visitors to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and use caution when navigating the detour routes.
