Public records show 38‑year‑old received active prison term

LELAND, NC — A 38-year-old man has been sentenced to state prison following a felony firearm conviction, according to North Carolina court and Department of Adult Correction records.

Terry Lee Ramsey, 38, was convicted in New Hanover County Superior Court of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon after authorities determined he had possessed and transferred a Remington 1100 12‑gauge shotgun, which he is legally barred from owning. He received a 55–95-month active sentence and is currently in state custody.

Public records show Ramsey has prior arrests in Brunswick and New Hanover counties, including earlier firearm‑related and property‑crime charges. He also appeared in the Brunswick County jail roster on January 26, 2026, under a Writ of Habeas Corpus, indicating a transport for court rather than a new charge.
