BC News Community Hero: The Big Paw Project Delivers for Brunswick County’s Shelter Pets

Local nonprofit gathers a month of donations to support adoptable animals at Brunswick County Animal Protective Services

SUPPLY, NC — Brunswick County Animal Protective Services received a heartwarming boost this week thanks to a month‑long community effort led by The Big Paw Project, a North Carolina nonprofit dedicated to supporting local rescues and shelters.

Volunteers with the organization spent the past several weeks collecting a potpourri of goodies for the shelter’s adoptable pets -including treats, toys, comfort items, and enrichment supplies. The donation was delivered to the county shelter in Supply, where staff expressed sincere appreciation for the generosity.

About The Big Paw Project

The Big Paw Project is a North Carolina nonprofit founded in 2023 and based in the Wilmington area. The organization focuses on helping local animals by supporting the shelters that care for them, often through donation drives, community partnerships, and enrichment projects.

Though still a young nonprofit, it has already made an impact across the region – including participating in community installations like the Rainbow Bridge memorial in Wilmington’s Greenfield Park and organizing supply collections for area shelters, such as this month’s effort for Brunswick County Animal Protective Services.
