County departments collaborate in nighttime controlled burn to enhance wildfire response.

SUPPLY, NC — February 10, 2026
at 8:00 p.m., Winnabow Brush 686, staffed by Firefighters Reshetar and Shepherd, participated in mutual‑aid fire line training during a controlled burn in Supply.

The exercise was hosted to help reduce the risk of larger wildfires by removing overgrown brush and creating natural breaks between fuel sources. Fire units from multiple Brunswick County departments worked together to monitor and contain the burn while practicing wildland firefighting tactics. Crews trained with a variety of fire apparatus, water supply methods, and wildland tools, with an emphasis on understanding fire behavior and weather conditions.

Winnabow Fire & Rescue extends its thanks to Bolivia Fire Department for the invitation and collaboration.
