SUNNY POINT — A section of NC 133 near Sunny Point was closed Thursday morning following a traffic crash that involves an overturned tanker resulting in a diesel fuel spill, prompting a swift emergency response and detours for morning drivers.
Deputies and emergency crews arrived on scene shortly after the incident, working to contain the spill and investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. The roadway was shut down for several hours as cleanup operations continued.
Traffic was rerouted through the Tiger Mart parking lot while crews worked to clear the scene and ensure safety.
