William Paul Tegtmeier – Little River SC

W. Paul Tegtmeier was born June 1, 1951, in Baltimore Maryland, the son of Robert William Tegtmeier and Dessie Merle Kinney. When he started school, he told his teacher he wanted to be called Paul, and so he was by all except family, who continued to call him Bill.

He grew up in Baltimore County, the youngest of four children, and graduated from Towson High School, attended Catonsville Community College later received a certificate for heating and air conditioning from RETS. After retiring in 2017, he and his wife and partner, Mary Linda Gilbert Leitschuh, moved to Little River, South Carolina, where they enjoyed exploring restaurants, listening to live music, golfing, and gathering with family and friends.

Bill/Paul loved to work with cars and motorcycles, restoring and sometimes racing them. He and Linda built a beautiful, solar-passive house with ample garage space for all their vehicles in Baltimore County. Some of those vehicles followed them to Little River, where they had their own garage. He was the extrovert in the family, often striking up conversations with those he met while shopping for a good deal. He was also generous with his time and many skills.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Robert Henry (Bud), sister-in-law Nancy, and nephew Robert Sterling (Rob) Tegtmeier. He is survived by his beloved wife Linda, his brother-in-law John Charles Gilbert and his children Justin, Elle, Max and Alex of Westminister, Maryland, as well as Bill’s niece Patricia Rozankowski and her husband Christopher and their children Aria and Zander, all of Little River, South Caroline. Other family members include his sister Kathryn and brother-in-law Michael of Lincoln, California; sister Merle, brother-in-law Robert, and niece Mary of Eugene, Oregon; and nephew Paul and his three children: Coco, Tadhg, and Sabrya of Seattle, Washington.
