CONWAY, SC — A Columbia man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to a series of violent offenses connected to a crime spree in Myrtle Beach, according to Fifteenth Circuit Solicitor Jimmy Richardson.
Asa Saiyon Price, 20, pleaded guilty Monday to two counts of armed robbery, one count of first‑degree burglary, and one count of kidnapping. Senior Assistant Solicitor Mary‑Ellen Walter prosecuted the case for the Fifteenth Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
Circuit Court Judge David P. Caraker Jr. sentenced Price to 20 years on each charge and ordered the sentences to run concurrently. All four offenses are classified under South Carolina law as violent and most serious, requiring Price to serve at least 85 percent of his sentence before becoming eligible for parole. Prosecutors noted that Price had no prior criminal history. If he is ever convicted of another most serious offense, he would be eligible for a life‑without‑parole sentence.
Investigators said Price and several friends traveled to Myrtle Beach on May 23, 2025, and committed multiple armed robberies within a matter of hours. The Myrtle Beach Police Department arrested all four suspects shortly afterward.
Two codefendants – Allannah She’niyah Nicole Clark‑Anderson and Kaharee Nyshai Simmons, previously pleaded guilty to accessory after the fact. Prosecutors said neither actively participated in the robberies. Both were sentenced to five years in prison and had no prior criminal records. Charges against a fourth defendant, Drevon Kennedy, remain pending.
“I truly cannot understand what spurred this crime spree. It was senseless in every way,” Walter said. “Visitors to and residents of Myrtle Beach were subjected to terrifying ordeals for very little monetary gain by the defendants. The Myrtle Beach Police Department, specifically Detective Zach Reffey, did an outstanding job investigating and gathering evidence in these cases.”
