Local lucky break brings a six-year-figure windfall to a neighboring shopper via a Main Street mini-mart ticket

Fair Bluff, NC — A routine stop at a downtown Fair Bluff store turned into a six-figure payday for a neighboring South Carolina resident.

Mary Ann Hammond of Little River, SC stepped forward to claim a $100,000 prize following a Powerball drawing. Hammond purchased her $3 winning ticket from B & S Mini Mart Inc., located on Main Street, Fair Bluff.

By correctly matching four white balls alongside the red Powerball, Hammond initially secured a standard $50,000 tier win. However, because she elected to add the $1.00 Power Play feature at the counter, her overall payout doubled when the 2x multiplier was drawn.

State lottery officials confirmed that Hammond claimed her reward, taking home a net total of $72,011 after required federal and state tax withholdings.
