Sheriff’s Office Investigating Handgun Theft on Old Tram Road in Nakina

NAKINA, NC — Law enforcement officers have launched an active investigation following the reported theft of a firearm from a residence in Nakina on Thursday evening.

Deputy Xavier Williams with the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office responded to a property on the 4800 block of Old Tram Road at approximately 6:13 p.m. The victim, identified in official reports as April Marie Evans, 45, reported that a silver and black Tisas 1911 .45-caliber pistol, valued at $300, had been stolen from the location.

Sheriff’s Office incident logs identified a 34-year-old male suspect in connection with the report. No formal arrest was logged at the time of the initial report, and deputies are continuing their investigation into the larceny.
