Arborside Circle Structure Fire Caused by Lightning Strike (Provided)
Sunset Harbor & Zion Hill firefighters contained an Arborside Circle structure fire sparked by afternoon lightning strikes
BOLIVIA, NC — Severe afternoon thunderstorms rolled through the area, bringing intense lightning that triggered a working structure fire on Arborside Circle, in Oak Harbor Village Community located at highway 211 and Sunset Habor Road.
According to Sunset Harbor & Zion Hill Volunteer Fire Department Fire Chief Rob Johnson, multiple buildings in the area were reported struck by lightning. Fortunately, rapid assessment confirmed that only one structure caught fire, and crews were able to contain the situation.
Chief Johnson praised the swift actions of all personnel involved and expressed deep appreciation for the department’s mutual aid partners who rushed to assist.
“Thanks to all of our mutual aid partners for the assistance,” Johnson said. “Great job everyone!”

No major injuries have been reported at this time as local crews wrap up operations and assess storm damage across the community.
