WINSTON-SALEM, NC — State correctional officials are searching for an inmate who escaped from the Forsyth Correctional Center in Winston-Salem early Friday morning.
The North Carolina Department of Adult Correction (NCDAC) reported that 35-year-old Raymond Warren was present during the 3:00 a.m. count, but was missing during morning rounds between 5:00 and 6:00 a.m.
Warren is serving a five-year sentence for larceny and was scheduled for release in 2028. He is described as a white male, standing 5 feet 4 inches tall, weighing about 160 pounds, with multiple tattoos on his neck and face. Correctional staff notified local law enforcement shortly after discovering he was no longer on facility grounds.
Search teams from NCDAC and Forsyth County have begun canvassing areas near Craft Drive and Old Greensboro Road. Officials noted that Warren is originally from Davidson County and also maintains strong ties to Columbus County.
The Columbus County Sheriff’s Office is assisting in the regional alert due to those local connections.
