Maryland Fugitive Wanted Out of State Apprehended in Columbus County

WHITEVILLE, NC — An out-of-state fugitive wanted in another jurisdiction was tracked down and apprehended by law enforcement officers late Wednesday evening.

Officers with the Colerain Police Department took 54-year-old Mckevit Gerard Walker of Aberdeen, Maryland, into custody around 10:54 p.m. on Wednesday.

Walker was transported to the Columbus County Detention Center, where he was formally served with a warrant for extradition as a fugitive from another state. He remains held without bond as local authorities coordinate with out-of-state officials to initiate extradition proceedings.

Any individuals listed are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
