RALEIGH, NC — Law enforcement agencies across North Carolina are ramping up traffic enforcement this week as part of the state’s annual “Speeding Slows You Down” campaign.
Running from Monday, July 20, through Sunday, July 26, the statewide effort aims to curb excessive speeds, reduce vehicle crashes, and decrease traffic-related fatalities across Tar Heel roadways.
State and local law enforcement officials emphasize that high speeds significantly reduce a driver’s reaction time and increase the severity of collisions. Throughout the week, motorists will see a heightened police presence on highways, interstates, and local roads, with officers actively issuing citations for speed violations.
State transportation officials remind drivers that taking a few extra minutes to reach a destination safely is far better than facing court costs, high insurance rates, or serious injury.
