J.B. McPherson, age 76, of Chadbourn, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, January 20, 2026.
He was born on March 1, 1949, the son of the late John H. McPherson and Ruby Blackwell McPherson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia M. Green.
J.B. proudly served his country in the United States Army and later as a company commander with the National Guard, at the Fair Bluff and Whiteville units. He was employed by Dupont in the early 70’s at the Cape Fear Plant, followed by employment with the Mundy Companies for 26 years, retiring as Vice President of Operations.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted on Friday, January 23, at 10:00 a.m. at China Grove Missionary Baptist Church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
A visitation luncheon will follow the graveside in the fellowship hall.
J.B. is survived by his wife, Karen Hinson McPherson; children, Jonathan Shane McPherson and James Brian McPherson; and siblings, Dianna M. Chavis and Peggy M. Ward; special brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Lori Hinson and a host of special nieces and nephews and church family at China Grove.
