Whiteville Woman Facing Severe Drug Charges Near Local School

Whiteville, NC – A routine law enforcement operation in Whiteville led to the arrest of a local woman on serious drug-distribution charges. Michelle Hunter, 41, was taken into custody by Columbus County deputies on Thursday afternoon at her East Lewis Street residence.

Hunter is facing felony charges for the possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver a Schedule II controlled substance. Because of the location of the offenses, she was also hit with a severe enhancement charge for manufacturing or possessing controlled substances within 1,000 feet of a school property. Additionally, Hunter faces charges of littering hazardous waste and possession of drug paraphernalia. She remains jailed under a $25,000 secured bond.

All individuals listed are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
