PEDIGREE Dog Food Recalled After Unsafe Cans Intended for Destruction Were Illegally Diverted Into Marketplace

Recalled lots were supposed to be destroyed but were instead fraudulently diverted and sold, with Mars warning the cans may contain sharp metal and plastic foreign material.

FDA RECALL:  Mars Petcare US, Inc. has announced a voluntary recall of two lots of PEDIGREE® Can High Protein Chopped Chicken & Duck Flavor 13.2 oz after discovering that product intended for destruction was fraudulently diverted and sold in the United States.

The company says the diverted cans failed PEDIGREE’s safety and quality standards and may contain sharp metal and plastic foreign material, creating risks such as choking or gastrointestinal injury. No related pet illnesses or injuries have been reported.

Recalled Lots

  • Product: PEDIGREE® High Protein Chopped Chicken & Duck Flavor 13.2 oz
  • Lot Codes: 613C3KKCFC and 613C1KKCFC
  • Risk: Hard, sharp metal and plastic foreign material
  • Cause: Product sent to a destruction vendor was illegally diverted into the marketplace

No other PEDIGREE or Mars Petcare products are included in the recall.
